Randomization

On both the Lineup and Groups tabs, you can randomize your entire roster across all positions or groups by clicking on the shuffle icon at the bottom right.

For more control, you can click on the shuffle* icon next to it to bring up a dialog box. Here, we’ll walk through each set of options

Note that all of the options can be combined. However you may get odd behavior if you ask for conflicting things.

Button options

Note that you have three options for which players to use for the randomization

  • Full Roster
    • This assigns all players from the team (given other imposed limits)
  • Those the lineup already
    • This limits the assignment to just players in the lineup
    • In groups, this is useful if, for example, you want to split warmup or pre-game scrimmage groups from just those who are playing
    • In lineups, this is useful if you want to just drag players into the lineup who will be at the game, then randomize their positions
  • Those assigned in the groups tab
    • This limits the assignment to just players who are in a group
    • In lineups, this is useful if, for example, you’ve set dark and light scrimmage groups and want to assign positions just to those players
    • In groups, this is useful if you want to just drag players into any group, then randomize their assignment

Balance randomization across

This section lets you balance your randomization based on a column, the position set in the lineup, or the group currently set.

So, for example, if you are creating a dark vs. light scrimmage, you could balance the randomization to make sure that each team as the same number of young/old players or players from each position.

Maximum players per position/group

This lets you limit the number of players assigned to each position/group. For example, if you set this to two, you could assign a starter and backup to each position randomly

Filter by

Filtering lets you decide to only assign certain players. You can use this to only assign older players, to only assign players in a particular group, or any other filter you might want. Here, we assign just the righties to positions

Limit possible assignments by

This option lets you assign which positions/groups players are eligible to be assigned to based on a column, group, or position. You could say assign lefties to the left side of your formation, or assign the forwards and defenders to separate practice groups:
